According to Elizabeth Keserauskis, director for University Marketing and Communications, there will be changes to the whole Web site. She said the current Web site is about five years old.
"Our goal is to have the new design live by Jan. 1," Keserauskis said.
Keserauskis said one reason for the change is because it is proactive to keep the site fresh and new.
"As you provide new, fresh content for people they will keep coming back," Keserauskis said. "Our team is primarily responsible for the design."
There is going to be more space for incorporating networking provided on the new site such as links to Facebook and Twitter, as well as links to the SIUE YouTube videos, according to Keserauskis.
She is asking for feedback on the blog,New SIUE Site from students and faculty because she said it is important to know what people want.
"I know it sounds cliché," Keserauskis said. "You have heard the saying it takes a village to raise a child. I believe it takes a campus to build a Web site."
Senior advertising major Julianne Perjak of Columbia looked at the two concept designs for the pages.
"They look the same to me," Perjak said. "The red makes it look better though."
Senior Spanish major Trevor Hart of Tucson, Az., said the first concept design is better because it has better color.
"I will miss the black background though, if they get rid of it," Hart said.
Senior social work major Dustin Walls of Effingham said he liked pieces of both designs.
He said the yellow color in the second concept design would go better with the red in the first design. He also liked the black coloring instead of the blue.
Junior elementary education major Jennifer McCallister of Granite City said the first design is better than the second.
"The colors pop out more and the design," McCallister said. "It is much better than what we have now. It looks more advanced."
Freshman pharmacy major Tracy Omorogieva of Zion said the colors in the first concept design looked better because of the coloring.
"It looks better because the colors match better, and it flows better," Omorogieva said.
Senior English and theater major Laurel Williams of Sherman said the first concept was the better one. She said she thinks it will make it easier for visitors to navigate the Web site and likes that because there are some university Web sites that are hard to navigate.
"I find it a lot clearer, and I like the separation of space," Williams said. "I don't fully understand what the bottom part of the page is for because we still have the A-Z index."
Keserauskis said there are more than 55 comments on the blog so far. For more information on the two new concept designs visit their blog.
