BOT to discuss fee increases Thursday

The Board of Trustees will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at Southern Illinois University Carbondale to discuss fee increases, personnel matters, items for recommended approval by the president and more.
After BOT activities, executive officer reports and public comments are discussed, the meeting will open to discuss purchase orders and contracts from December 2007 for both the SIUC and the SIUE campus.
Thirteen items on the agenda will be devoted to different specific increases on the SIUC campus, and another 13 items pertaining to increases will also be discussed for the SIUE campus.
Increases at SIUC range from summer camp fee increases to intercollegiate athletic fees to student services building fees.
SIUE increases include a differential tuition surcharge, increasing athletic fees, increasing textbook rental fees, proposed tuition rates for 2009 and other increases throughout the university.
Changes in faculty-administrative payroll will be discussed for both campuses as well as changes in the payroll for the Office of the President and other university-wide services.
Other items up for discussion include awarding of contracts for the wrestling and volleyball center at SIUE, revised budgets for several projects at SIUC and the authorization to hire a construction management firm for other projects at SIUC.
