The Cougars would strike late in the game as the home half of the final inning opened up. With runners on second and third, the Cougars pulled a double steal and freshman outfielder Chaleen Rumpf stole home successfully and senior outfielder Katy Biggs safely snuck into third. Biggs would score on a defensive error tying the game and bringing the contest into extra innings.
Colosimo, who came into the game as a relief pitcher, pitched three hitless innings and put NKU's batters out in order in the top of the 8th.
After a leadoff double, sophomore utility fielder Nicole Beecher would score on an error by NKU to give the Cougars the win.
"The extra inning game was crucial for us," Mall said. "NKU is a big rivalry for us and beating them always feels great, any way we do it."
In the nightcap, the Cougars again put Colosimo on the mound and stormed to a 10-1 rout.
The Cougar scoring opened up in the bottom of the fourth, as they would score six runs on six hits. Senior outfielder Jodi Ohlau homered along with five other Cougar hits bringing the score to 7-1.
Colosimo picked up the victory, which brings her record to 15-2 this season.
The Cougars will now welcome in Southern Indiana University. The two teams will play a double header Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Cougar Field.
