Junior Amy Austin asked the candidates how they planned to better communicate with university students and staff.
Estilette, Spainhour and junior senatorial candidate Ankur Patel said the best way to communicate is to interact with the SIUE community firsthand.
"I think we need to physically get out there … and say, 'Hey, how much do you want to pay for tuition?'" Spainhour said.
Estilette said she is part of a current Student Government taskforce that tries to bring recognition to the organization by mingling with students and asking their opinions.
The best way to interact is to "swarm the quad," Estilette said.
Freshman senatorial candidate Stephanie Clark suggested a newsletter or e-mail about Student Government happenings. Brazill said an online student blog would be beneficial.
Senior Josh Bozue asked the candidates what they thought made SIUE worth attending.
"The best thing about SIUE is that there are so many opportunities for students," Medhurst said. "They just have to take advantage of them."
Voting for the 2007-08 student government will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, April 2, and Tuesday, April 3, at various polling locations around campus.
