University Housing is asking faculty and staff to join approximately 250 student volunteers with Move-In Day 2004.
On Aug. 20, nearly 3,000 students will move into the three residence halls and Cougar Village for the upcoming school year.
"We think it's a great opportunity for them to meet incoming students and parents," said Kara Shustrin, assistant director for Academic Programs and Assessment for University Housing.
Faculty volunteers are asked to direct traffic, answer questions, and meet and greet parents and students.
Shustrin said new students are often nervous about approaching faculty, and this would allow them to meet staff members in a casual environment.
Free T-shirts will be given out while supplies last. Working two or more shifts entitles volunteers to a polo shirt.
For more information, contact Kara Shustrin at 650-0546 or ksnyder@siue.edu by July 9.
