About 140 people joined the SIUE chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity in a campus march to remember the legend of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
The march Wednesday, Jan. 14, began at the Morris University Center, continued on University Drive and through Cougar Village, ending at the Alpha house.
Senior Michael Jones is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and said the march was put together by the fraternity as a group effort.
"I put it together with the help of my brothers and the chapter President Jamarcus Smith," Jones said. "It was a collaborative effort. Everyone was there to make it happen."
The Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity promotes diversity and Jones said the march "touched the essence that generations before us have struggled for."
Jones said the fraternity wants to show others that people of different nationalities and cultures can socialize and work together.
King's birthday was observed Monday.
