A high-speed rail will replace the current Amtrak rail from St. Louis to Chicago, according to Rick Harnish, executive director of the Midwest High Speed Rail Association.
Harnish said the route will run on the same track that Amtrak currently uses. The train's speed will increase from 79 mph to 110 mph.

The power outages that blackened SIUE during the past month should no longer be a problem.
According to Ameren spokeswoman Victoria Busch, Ameren identified the problem triggering the outages as moisture build-up in the switchgear. The equipment should be in working order now.

Some sororities and fraternities may have a place to call home starting fall 2012, according to Steve Sperotto, director of the Kimmel Leadership Center, as a contract has been set up with an architectural firm and planning has begun.
Sperotto, the co-chair of the Greek housing task force, a committee created by Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Narbeth Emmanuel to look at the possibilities of Greek housing, said the university has a contract with the architectural firm Treanor Architects Inc.
